How To Make Japanese Vegetable Tempura : Making Batter For Japanese Vegetable Tempura: Part 2

Hello my name is Hui and on behalf of Expert
Village, I’m going to show how to cook vegetable tempura. Once we have the right measurement
for both the flour and the egg mixture. First of all, we would beat the egg into the water
mixture first. Then we would add the egg mixture into the flour. Gently we don’t want to add
the water mixture all at one time into the flour cause we can not really mix the batter
being the consistently that we want. As you see my batter is very thin at this point but
for Japanese vegetable tempura that is what we are looking for. I would actually add even
more water so that we would have that one to one ratio between the water and the flour.
As you can see, it is okay to have a little bit of lumps. Then we would put our batter
into refrigerator for around 20 minutes.

  1. These recioes are excellent. Thanks for posting. One problem is that the process is broken into too many small segments. Very hard to follow up on the next part.

    Good job Expertvillage!!!

  2. Also I think if you used a whisk it would end up bringing too much air into the batter. If you don't got chopsticks I think a wooden spoon wouldn't be too bad

  3. You're a moron. He may have not pronounced vegetables correctly, but flour was pronounced correctly.

You're probably one of those idiots who pronounce flour 'flar'. How do you pronounce 'our'?

  4. true japanese chefs would stone this guy when he mentions the fridge. A tempura batter should be use immediately after mixing. Left for too long, the batter will homogenize and you will lose the lumps, which are essential to have a great *not average* finished product.
Simply refrigerate all ingredients before mixing

  5. at first,he used ceramicchina,this surface painted a figure.
i know this is a traditional japanese figure, but i forgot the name,i want to buy ceramicchina dish with same figure.
if someone know the name?teach me.please.

  6. Like all other Expert Village videos, completely useless. They show you how to do things the wrong way, and rarely ever tell you what you will actually need.

  7. WHAT!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!! YOU END THE VIDEO WHEN YOU PUT THE BATTER IN THE FRIDGE???!!!! REALLY??!!!! SO WE DON'T GET TO SEE THE CONSISTENCY OF THE BATTER!!!!!! WE DON'T GET TO SEE A FINISHED PRODUCT (THE VEG-TABLES)!!!!!! YOU GAVE NO MEASURE-MENTS!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR ABSO-LUTELY NOTHING!!!!!
