Recipe inspiration:

A hangover can really put a crimp in the seemingly never-ending holiday festivities. Alcohol depletes the body of many vitamins and nutrients, including potassium, and dehydrates us as well. This Holiday Hangover Smoothie is just what the doctor ordered. Featuring a powerhouse of restorative nutrients such as Omegas 3 and 6 from the hemp milk and flax seeds; potassium and electrolytes from coconut water and bananas; endless antioxidant and nutrient benefits from raw cocoa; carotenes from pistachios, which also assist our bodies with the removal of toxic free radicals and lastly, cayenne pepper which even if used in very small amounts gets the blood circulating and heals our gastrointestinal tract from stomachaches and cramping pains. As you can see, the Holiday Hangover Smoothie will have you back in the festivities faster than you can say, “Cheers!”

*Notes* I highly recommend freezing your coconut water in ice cube trays as this, along with the frozen banana, creates a nice frozen drink. This recipe can also be made with Plain or Vanilla Hemp Milk by adding 2 tablespoons of raw cocoa. The cayenne pepper is optional but just a ¼ teaspoons adds a subtle amount of heat on the finish. This recipe makes approximately 2- 12 ounce servings.

Recipe ingredients:

1 ½ Cups Pacific Natural Foods Chocolate Hemp Milk
6 oz. coconut water frozen into ice cubes (about 6 cubes)
¾ cup raw unsalted pistachios, shelled
1 frozen banana, cut into pieces
2 tablespoons ground flax seed
1 tablespoon raw organic cocao powder (unsweetened cocoa powder will work too)
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Cooking instructions:

In a blender combine all ingredients and blend on high until smooth.
